Esther Lizano is a highly experienced researcher in the field of evolutionary biology and genomics. Currently serving as a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Evolutionary Biology (CSIC-Universitat Pompeu Fabra) since June 2016 and as Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer at Flomics since 2018, Esther has a significant background in various scientific roles. Prior experience includes positions as Staff Scientist at the Centro Nacional de Análisis Genómico (CNAG) from 2014 to June 2016, Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) with a focus on brain transcriptome profiling in neurological disorders from April 2010 to December 2013, and at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology studying primate gene expression from May 2007 to March 2010. Esther obtained a PhD in Biochemistry from Leipzig University (2002-2007), a Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2011-2013), and a Licenciatura in Chemistry from Universitat de Barcelona.
