Luz Jimenez Vela has extensive experience in physics education and research, currently serving as a Graduate Assistant at Florida State University since August 2017, where responsibilities include instructing courses in astronomy and various physics topics, as well as leading the Astrophysics Journal Club. Previous roles include a Bridge Program Fellow at the American Physical Society and Physics Lab Instructor at Chapman University, providing support in Mechanics and Electricity & Magnetism laboratories. Additional experience encompasses work at Fullerton College guiding students through academic transitions, and a position as a Data Analyst at MindTouch. Luz completed a summer research program at CERN as part of the Columbia University High Energy Experimental Physics REU. Academic qualifications include ongoing doctoral studies at Florida State University, along with a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the same institution and Chapman University, respectively. Luz also holds an Associate degree from Fullerton College.
