Karen Everstine is a seasoned professional in food safety and environmental health, currently serving as the Technical Director for Food Safety Solutions at FoodChain ID since March 2022. Previously, Karen held the position of Senior Manager for Scientific Affairs at Decernis from July 2018 to March 2022 and worked as a Scientific Liaison for Food Standards at the United States Pharmacopeia from November 2015 to June 2018, where significant contributions were made to food fraud mitigation tools. Additional experiences include a Research Associate role at The Food Protection and Defense Institute, focusing on economically motivated adulteration of food products, and a Senior Epidemiologist position at the Minnesota Department of Health, conducting foodborne outbreak investigations. Karen began the career as an Environmentalist at Hennepin County Public Health. Academically, Karen holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Health Sciences and an MPH from the University of Minnesota, as well as a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech.
