Mario H Braakman is a seasoned psychiatrist and esteemed academic, currently serving as a psychiatrist at FPC de Rooyse Wissel and a special professor of Transcultural Forensic Psychiatry at Tilburg University since October 2019. Braakman holds multiple leadership positions, including president of the World Association of Cultural Psychiatry and managing director of Ethnopsych Consultancy. With extensive experience at Pro Persona, including roles as director of residency programs and lead clinician at the Cultural Consultation Service, Braakman has significantly contributed to enhancing culturally competent mental health care in the Netherlands. Additionally, Braakman serves on the Professional Council of the Human Rights and Medical Research Institute and previously held editorial responsibilities for the World Cultural Psychiatry Research Review. Educational qualifications include an MD and a Master of Arts in Anthropology, both obtained from Radboud University, enhancing expertise in both medicine and cultural studies.
