Lino Covarrubias

Lino is the Chief Executive Officer of Jewish Family Service of Metrowest (JFS). JFS is a community-based nonprofit organization serving over 6,000 individuals and families annually within the Metrowest and Greater Boston regions, supporting vulnerable children and families, individuals, immigrants, and elders aging in place.

Lino is a first-generation Mexican American having been born and raised in Southern California’s migrant agriculture region of the Imperial Valley. He worked with his parents in seasonal agriculture and one of his very first heroes was Cesar Chavez, whom he met when he was 7 years old and his legacy of caring for migrant workers has inspired him ever since to fight for those in need.

Under Lino’s leadership, JFS has accelerated reducing social, academic, and health inequity in community members experiencing financial distress, poverty, and racism/anti-Semitism especially families with young children and frail isolated older adults. Previous to joining JFS, Lino served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years as a Naval Officer. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy with a BS in Systems Engineering and holds a Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Concentration, from the University of Massachusetts and a Master of Business Administration from Babson College. He serves on the board of the Metrowest Health Foundation.

He lives with his wife Kathy in Framingham MA and has a son David (a junior at Clark University) and a daughter Molly (A Master in Physical Education student at Springfield College MA).
