Barbara Nielsen

Barbara Nielsen is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in environmental management and remediation. Currently serving as Manager of Remediation Projects at Freeport-McMoRan Inc since April 2005, Barbara oversees a multi-million dollar portfolio of various remediation and reclamation sites while ensuring NCP compliance. Notable achievements include managing projects that received honors from the Colorado Environmental Leadership Program. Previously, as Manager of the Environmental Services Division at RESPEC from April 1994 to April 2005, Barbara focused on market development, client relations, and business planning across multiple offices. Earlier experience includes serving as Director of Engineering for the South Dakota Petroleum Release Compensation Fund from April 1991 to April 1994, where Barbara managed engineering staff and ensured program compliance with state statutes. Barbara holds a B.S. in Geological Engineering from South Dakota Mines, earned between 1980 and 1985.
