Joanna Barsh

Joanna Barsh is a Director at Genesco. Joanna has also served as Chairman for the FORTUNE Leadership Council, Commissioner for the NYC Commission on Women's Issues, Board Trustee for Sesame Workshop, and Senior Advisor for McKinsey & Company.

Barsh has been a powerful voice for women's issues throughout their career. As Chairman of the FORTUNE Leadership Council, they launched a new women's leadership development program with the mission to accelerate the retention and advancement of women globally. As Commissioner for the NYC Commission on Women's Issues, they addressed issues of importance to NYC women, highlighted city services for women, and initiated a youth program to inspire and educate high potential girls and boys.

Barsh has also made significant contributions to education through their role as Board Trustee for Sesame Workshop. In this role, they helped shape the educational content of Sesame Street and its various international adaptations.

Joanna Barsh attended the University of Pennsylvania for their undergraduate degree in English Literature. Joanna then went on to earn their Master of Arts in English Language and Literature, General from the University of Chicago. Finally, they obtained their Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
