Charlie Durant

Charlie Durant is a Bioinformatician at GenomeKey since September 2022 and a PhD Candidate at the University of Leicester, part of the BBSRC-funded MIBTP Programme. The research project focuses on the metagenomics of bacteria and bacteriophages in ants and their nests. Charlie has also held various positions including Laboratory Demonstrator, COVID-19 Test Processor, Outreach Assistant, and Academic Tutor at the University of Leicester. As a tutor for MyTutor.co.uk, Charlie provides online support to students and participates in the National Tutoring Programme. Previous experiences include a Mathematical Modelling PhD Mini-Project at the University of Birmingham, a Researcher role at Oxford Scientific Films, and an Industrial Placement at Green Biologics Ltd. Charlie's education includes a PhD in Genetics from the University of Leicester and a BSc in Biology from the University of Bath.
