Cristi Hegranes

Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University

Cristi Hegranes is the founder and CEO of Global Press, established in 2006 to promote ethical and accurate global news through a values-driven approach that emphasizes dignity, diversity, and transparency. In addition to leadership at Global Press, Cristi serves as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University, teaching a course on equity in global journalism, and holds the title of Fellow at Ashoka since 2013. Previous roles include Dial Fellow at Emerson Collective, lecturer at the Poynter Institute’s Women's Leadership Academy, Social Entrepreneur in Residence at Stanford University, and lecturer at California State University, East Bay, and San Francisco State University. Early in the career, Cristi worked as a staff writer for SF Weekly and as a reporter for Village Voice Media and other international news outlets. Educational credentials include a Master’s in Journalism from New York University, a fellowship at the Poynter Institute, and a Bachelor's degree in Communications from Loyola Marymount University.
