Diane Asaro, MSN, RN, is a health and wellness consultant bringing over 30 years of experience working with medical, mental health and wellness issues in higher education. Ms. Asaro most recently served as the Director of the Wellness Center at Loyola University of Chicago and was responsible for the vision, planning, and implementation of wellness services for emerging adults and nontraditional students.
Under her leadership, traditional medical and mental services were merged and redesigned utilizing a wellness approach and new modalities to better respond to the changing needs of college students. Known for her evidence based approach yet willingness to be an innovator, Ms. Asaro provided a variety of ways for students to receive support and to engage with their university. She codeveloped and served on behavioral concerns teams and spearheaded and successfully introduced a variety of outreach programs, including a dog therapy program.
Ms. Asaro received her Master's in the Science of Nursing degree and BSN from Loyola University of Chicago. She was one of the first nurses in the country to be certified in college health nursing. Her teaching experience includes University 101 classes, psychiatric nursing at the baccalaureate level, and health systems management.
