Caroline Barnes

Caroline Barnes is a seasoned communications professional with extensive experience at GitHub, where roles have included Chief of Staff for Operations and Director of Executive Communications since March 2019. In these positions, Caroline has successfully managed diverse teams, developed strategic communications programs, and enhanced brand awareness and employee engagement. Additional responsibilities have included serving as Interim Deputy Chief of Staff to the CEO, overseeing operational improvements, and coordinating key briefings. Prior to GitHub, Caroline held various roles at Weber Shandwick, Highwire PR, and Ruder Finn, developing a strong foundation in public relations and marketing communications. Caroline holds a Bachelor of Arts cum laude in English Language and Literature from Clemson University and has completed a high-performance leadership course at Cornell University.
