Carl Fishwick is an experienced associate director in genomics at GSK, leading the UK Genomics team in developing scalable NGS solutions for high throughput functional genomics CRISPR and compound screening. With a background in functional genomics, including specialization in single cell and spatial omics, Carl has contributed to biomarker discovery and candidate drug target validation. Previous roles include involvement in the Open Targets project at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and research into the non-genotoxic effects of toxic metals during a postdoctoral fellowship. Carl holds a PhD in Chromatin Dynamics During Urothelial Differentiation from the University of York, in addition to an MSc in Bioscience Technology and a BSc in Biomolecular Sciences.
