Itziar Irurzun Arana

Itziar Irurzun Arana is a seasoned professional in the field of pharmacometrics and clinical pharmacology, currently serving as the Director of Clinical Pharmacology - Modeling and Simulation in infectious diseases at GSK since January 2024. Prior to this role, Itziar held positions at AstraZeneca as Associate Director and Clinical Pharmacometrician in Oncology from May 2020 to January 2024. Itziar completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, focusing on mechanistic myocyte modeling to predict cardiotoxicity in targeted cancer therapies. Itziar earned a PhD in Pharmacometrics and Systems Pharmacology from the University of Navarra, where research contributions included systems pharmacology in autoimmune diseases. Additional academic credentials include an MSc in Bioinformatics from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and a degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Navarra.
