Klio Maratou

Klio Maratou PhD is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in non-clinical safety and genetic toxicology at GSK since September 2012, currently serving as Director. Klio has developed specialized capabilities in NGS and omics to enhance drug safety analysis, and has led various complex projects within functional genomics. Previous roles include leadership positions in target validation and perturbed screening, with a strong focus on enabling large-scale scientific initiatives. Klio's academic background includes a PhD and Master's degree from Imperial College London, along with a Bachelor's degree in Biology with Microbiology, complemented by postdoctoral research experience in prominent institutions where expertise in next-generation sequencing and gene expression profiling was developed.
