Hilda Vasanthakaalam

Hilda Vasanthakaalam is an experienced nutrition professional currently serving as a Senior Nutrition Advisor at the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) since July 2023. With a distinguished academic career at the University of Rwanda spanning over two decades, Hilda held multiple leadership roles including Associate Professor, Dean of the School of Agriculture & Food Science, and Dean of the School of Food Science and Technology at the College of Agriculture Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine. Hilda has dedicated efforts to administration, teaching, and research focused on addressing food and nutritional challenges and developing scalable nutritional products. Hilda earned a PhD in Food Science & Nutrition with a focus on Food Safety from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University and completed secondary education at the Ida Scudder School in Vellore, Tamil Nadu.
