Theme Lead: Inclusive And Equitable Food Systems at Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN)

Miriam Shindler is an experienced professional in the field of nutrition and food systems, currently serving as the Theme Lead for Inclusive and Equitable Food Systems and Programme Lead for Children and Young People at the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) since March 2020. Previously, Miriam led the Girl Powered Nutrition Global Programmes at the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, managing initiatives that reached 395,000 girls across multiple countries. As an Advocacy Manager, Miriam developed and implemented an advocacy strategy to empower girl-led community actions. Miriam's career also includes a role as Communications Specialist to the Director General at CIMMYT, where communication strategies on food and nutrition security were developed. Miriam holds a Certificate of Graduate Studies in Global Nutrition Programming from Tufts University, as well as advanced degrees in International Development and Environmental Studies, and Philosophy and Social Sciences from the University of Manchester, and is currently pursuing additional studies at the University of San Diego.
