Francois Gonzalvez

Francois Gonzalvez is a highly experienced professional in the field of oncology research, currently serving as the Vice President and Head of Discovery Oncology at Galapagos since September 2022. Previously, Francois held senior roles at Aligos Therapeutics, Janssen Inc., and ARIAD Pharmaceuticals, where responsibilities included leading oncology research projects, managing discovery biology teams, and overseeing the development of drug candidates. Francois has demonstrated a strong capability in directing research focused on immune cell targets, kinases, and epigenetic enzymes, as well as providing scientific mentorship and ensuring cross-functional collaboration. With a Ph.D. in Cancer Research and Molecular Pathology from the University of Glasgow, Francois has contributed to significant advancements in cancer therapeutics throughout a robust career that began with foundational postdoctoral research at reputable institutions such as Genentech and the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research.
