Hal Varian is a distinguished economist currently serving as Chief Economist at Google since 2002. Prior to this position, Varian was the Dean at UC Berkeley from 1995 to 2007 and held the role of Professor of Economics at the University of Michigan from 1977 to 1995. Varian earned a PhD in Economics from UC Berkeley between 1969 and 1973 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, obtained from 1965 to 1969.
