Zheng Xu

Zheng Xu is a Staff Research Scientist at Google since September 2019, specializing in machine learning privacy, particularly federated learning and differential privacy. Notable achievements include developing production on-device language models with strong differential privacy guarantees and ensuring all Gboard models meet DP standards. Prior experience includes roles at the University of Maryland as a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant, and internships at prominent organizations such as Apple, Adobe, Honda Research Institute, and Amazon Web Services. Zheng Xu holds a PhD and an MS in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, along with a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Information Science from the University of Science and Technology of China.
