Tonya Makletzoff

Climate Change Outreach Specialist at Government of Northwest Territories

Tonya Makletzoff is a Climate Change Outreach Specialist and Climate Change Coordinator with extensive experience in conservation and community engagement. Currently serving the Government of Northwest Territories since September 2022, Tonya previously worked for the Government of the Northwest Territories from July 2013 to June 2023, focusing on conservation planning initiatives and Indigenous Protected Areas. Tonya's artistic career began in 1995 as an NWT Artist, highlighting Indigenous values through various art exhibits. Previous roles include Interpretive Planner at Parks Canada, Curriculum Developer at Yukon College, and Northern Contaminants Assistant for the Council of Yukon First Nations. Tonya holds a Master's degree in Environmental Practice from Royal Roads University and a diploma in Environmental Studies from Yukon College.
