Jahanna is a consultant with Grand River and envisions the day that every student has access to a safe and equitable educational experience. Jahanna’s vision developed during her time at Stetson University College of Law, where she was selected for a fellowship in the Center for Excellence in Higher Education Law and Policy. Under the guidance of her mentor, Professor Peter Lake, she dedicated herself to the interdisciplinary study of federal and state policy with an emphasis on Title IX. As a student leader, she spearheaded the opening of the Stetson Law food pantry. Jahanna also established herself as a standout in Stetson’s #1 nationally-ranked advocacy program. She celebrated championships in mediation and client counseling, helping bring home the first-ever American Bar Association Competitions Championship.
After graduation, Jahanna continued her work in the Center for Excellence at Stetson Law as a graduate assistant. In this position, Jahanna co-taught a skills-based interviewing and counseling course to second- and third-year law students. She also led a unique project for the then interim dean at Stetson, focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion. In this initiative, she developed an advocacy skill building series focused on building leadership skills for law students and implemented programing for faculty and staff.
In July 2018, Jahanna was selected as an EVERFI Fellow, where her duties included producing webinars and writing white papers focused on promising prevention practices in higher education. Topics included mental health and well-being, sexual and relationship violence, Title IX, alcohol and other drugs, diversity, equity and inclusion, and Gen Z students.
Prior to law school, Jahanna managed restaurants in Gainesville, Florida including The Swamp Restaurant and Sound Bites by Grooveshark. She earned a bachelor of science in psychology and a minor in classical studies from the University of Florida. Jahanna is a resident of St. Petersburg, Florida.
