Tom Collins

Tom Collins is an experienced journalist with a strong focus on African affairs, currently serving as a Reporter for both Quartz and The Guardian, where business features and diverse topics across West Africa are primary responsibilities. In addition, Tom holds the position of Editor at How we made it in Africa, overseeing article commissions and edits. Previous roles include Stringer for The Telegraph and The Times, as well as Content Writer for Briter, where Tom led the 'Product Insights Series' on African tech sub-sectors. Tom has also worked as East Africa Correspondent and Digital Editor for African Business Magazine, Editorial Consultant for Grayling, Business Analyst (TV) at Africa MediaWorks Limited, and Video Producer for Vivum Intelligent Media. Academic credentials include a Master's degree in African Studies from SOAS University of London and a Bachelor's degree in French and Philosophy from the University of Southampton.
