He studied at Abilene Christian University for both his undergraduate and masters.
He’s worked in higher education settings serving students and families at colleges in Texas, Tennessee, and Michigan. Ernesto has worked at Hope College as the Assistant Director of the Center for Diversity and Inclusion as well as Executive Director of Latin Americans United for Progress. Most recently, he served as the Homeowner Services Coach for Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity.
Along with his work at Habitat, Ernesto serves on the board for Lighthouse Immigrant Advocates and Homecor (a neighborhood revitalization nonprofit focused on providing affordable homeownership in downtown Holland).
