Andrew Diaz-Matos

Andrew Diaz-Matos is the current Director at Hartford Public Library. Prior to this, they served as the General Counsel at CapSpecialty from December 2019 to July 2022. In this role, they oversaw Legal, Compliance, and Claims (2019-21), Human Resources, Administration and IT (2021-22).

Before CapSpecialty, Andrew was with The Hartford for 13 years, from May 2006 to December 2019. Andrew started as a Staff Attorney and later became the Deputy General Counsel. In this role, they led a team responsible for legal support in bankruptcy, commercial contracts, cyber, data, intellectual property, mergers & acquisitions, privacy, real estate, strategic relationships and joint ventures, technology, outsourcing, and venture investments. Additionally, they served on senior leadership teams for: Law Department; Operations, Technology & Data; and Strategic Sourcing and Real Estate. Andrew also advised the Chief Strategy and Ventures Officer and other senior leaders across the enterprise.

Prior to The Hartford, Andrew worked as an Associate at White & Case LLP from September 1998 to May 2005.

Andrew Diaz-Matos has a JD from Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University and a BA in Philosophy from Boston University. Andrew also attended Pelham Memorial High School.
