Byron Gumata

Byron Gumata is a dedicated mining professional with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mining from the University of Alberta, obtained in 2022. Since May 2022, Byron has been employed at Hecla Mining Company, holding various roles including Miner, Geotechnical Engineer-in-Training (EIT), Production EIT, and Underground Mine EIT. Previously, a geological engineering co-op was completed at New Gold Inc., where responsibilities included underground drift convergence scanning, geological structure mapping, and quality control for grout samples. Experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator was gained at Syncrude Canada Ltd., focusing on safe operation of equipment and communication within the mining team. Additionally, Byron has worked as a pesticide applicator for Clearwater County and as a labourer at Evergreen Energy Ltd.
