Marten Wiersma

Marten Wiersma is a Machine Learning Engineer at Helin Data since August 2022, focusing on custom model training to advance AI technology at the edge. Previously, Marten served as an AI Research Scientist at Roboat, where a deep reinforcement learning-based local planner for an autonomous ferry was developed. As a Reliability Engineer at Rotterdam World Gateway B.V., an emphasis was placed on enhancing asset availability and reliability through data-driven decision-making dashboards. Marten's prior roles include Mechatronics and Mechanical Engineer positions at X Laboratory and Project MARCH, where contributions were made to the design of exoskeleton joints for paraplegics. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence from Leiden University, along with a Pre-Master in Informatica and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechatronics from The Hague University of Applied Sciences.
