Shelby Gunderman Castells

Shelby Gunderman Castells is an accomplished professional in the field of archaeology and environmental planning, currently serving as Team Lead at HELIX Environmental Planning, Inc. since July 2024. Previously, Castells held the position of Director at ASM Affiliates from January 2022 to July 2024, and Director of Archaeology at Red Tail Environmental from January 2018 to December 2021. Castells has extensive experience at ASM Affiliates, Inc., where roles ranged from Director to Senior Archaeologist and Associate Archaeologist between March 2009 and January 2018. Earlier career experience includes serving as a GIS Specialist / Archaeologist for the County of San Diego and as an Archaeologist for The George Washington Foundation. Castells holds a Master of Arts in Anthropology with a concentration in Archaeology from San Diego State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from UC San Diego.
