Joe Friona possesses extensive experience in academic leadership and assessment roles across various institutions. Currently serving as a Peer Reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission since November 2008, Joe has participated in comprehensive and focus visits related to program evaluation and accreditation. As Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs at the University of Saint Francis from March 2015 to May 2018, Joe managed the Virtual Campus and Graduate School, driving program development and operational leadership. Previous roles include Director of Assessment, Teaching and Learning at Franciscan University, where Joe served as the Accreditation Liaison Officer and led significant assessment initiatives. Joe's foundational career included leadership positions at City College and DeVry University, with a strong emphasis on retention improvement and recruitment strategies. Joe holds a Master's Degree in Philosophy with a concentration in bioethics from Franciscan University of Steubenville and a Master of Arts in Economics from the University at Buffalo.
