Elissa Vanaver

Elissa Vanaver is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in educational equity, business development, and nonprofit leadership. Currently serving as a Social Enterprise/Business Development Consultant at Vanaver & Associates since March 2023, Elissa has collaborated with various organizations to enhance community impact. As a member of the Board of Directors at HistoryMiami Museum since October 2018 and a Board Advisor for Breakthrough Birmingham since November 2020, Elissa remains actively engaged in cultural and educational initiatives. Previously, Elissa held the position of Chief Executive Officer at both Breakthrough Collaborative and Breakthrough Miami, leading efforts to support underrepresented students in their educational journeys. With a background in journalism and management, including significant roles at The Miami Herald, Elissa has received multiple Pulitzer Prizes for outstanding coverage. Elissa holds advanced degrees from Northwestern University and the University of Virginia, reflecting a strong academic foundation in journalism and international studies.
