Avery Ince, MD, Ph.D. is a Vice President of Medical Affairs at Janssen North America, a Johnson & Johnson company. Prior to this, he was the US Scientific & Medical Affairs Strategy Head at Janssen NA and, before that, he was VP of Medical Affairs at Janssen China. Avery got his start in the industry with Merck where he designed late-stage clinical trials in Rahway, NJ before leaving the US to lead large medical teams in Asia-Pacific.
Before joining industry, Avery completed Internal Medicine residency and Endocrine fellowship training at the Massachusetts General Hospital, and held a staff position with clinical and research responsibilities at Harvard Medical School. Avery earned his M.D. as well as a Ph.D. in Cell Biology, both at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His undergraduate degree is in Biomedical Engineering and was earned at Brown University.
Avery has a passion for working closely with local organizations that excel at addressing the social and/or other determinants of health and, in addition to being a Henry J. Austin Health Center board member, serves on the boards of the United Negro College Fund- NJ, as well as the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in Mercer County, NJ.
