Michael D. Pasquale, MD, FACS, currently serves LVHN as Chairman, Department of Surgery, and the Physician-in-Chief of the Lehigh Valley Institute for Surgical Excellence. Previous positions held within the Network include Chief Medical Officer of LVH, Senior Medical Director of LVH, Senior Vice-Chairman, Department of Surgery, and Chief, Division of Trauma-Surgical Critical Care. Dr. Pasquale is a Professor of Surgery at the University of South Florida and is a Visiting Research Scientist at Lehigh University.
Dr. Pasquale is a graduate of Bethany College where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. He received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Pasquale completed his internship and General Surgery residency at Georgetown University Hospital and then completed a Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at the University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinics.
Dr. Pasquale is certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. In addition, Dr. Pasquale is a member of the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma where he has served on the Executive Committee and as Chief of Region III, the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma where he served on the Outcomes Committee, the Pennsylvania Committee on Trauma where he chaired the Ad Hoc Committee on Site Survey Outcomes Measurements and the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma where he served as President and a member of the EAST Foundation Board. His research interests are evidence-based outcomes measurement and the development of evidence-based guidelines.
