Gregory Der is a seasoned law enforcement professional with extensive experience in various roles within the police sector. Currently serving as Chief of Police for Howard County Government since January 2022, Gregory previously held the position of Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal with the Maryland State Police from May 2017 to February 2022. Prior roles include President of the Howard County Police Officers Association (FOP Lodge 21), Arson and Explosive Investigator, and various law enforcement positions in Howard County Government and Easton Police Department. Gregory's background also includes serving as a Task Force Officer with the ATF. Educational credentials consist of a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership from The Johns Hopkins University and an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice/Police Science from Carroll Community College.
