Joris Smits

Joris Smits is an accomplished managing director at Ney & Partners Nederland, overseeing the Dutch market since September 2019, and previously served as lead architect and bridge designer at Royal HaskoningDHV for over two decades. With a robust academic presence as an associate professor of Bridge Design at TU Delft since 2012, Joris focuses on sustainable and biobased bridge design. In addition to roles on the Board of the Delft Deltas Infrastructures & Mobility Initiative and as a member of the Independent Design Panel for HS2 Ltd, Joris actively contributes to the promotion of bridges in the Netherlands through involvement with the Bruggenstichting. Joris is also a tenor with the Toonkunst Choir Rotterdam and holds dual Master’s degrees in Architecture and Civil Engineering from Delft University of Technology.
