Senior Director, Refugee Advocacy at Human Rights First

Robyn Barnard is a seasoned advocate in the field of refugee protection and human rights, currently serving as Director of Refugee Advocacy at Human Rights First since March 2018, where previous roles included Associate Director and Senior Advocacy Counsel. Barnard also holds a position as a Board Member at ALDEA - The Peoples Justice Center since March 2021. With a rich legal background, Barnard's experience includes serving as Staff Attorney at the Center for Gender and Refugee Studies and holding advocacy roles in various organizations, including Human Rights First. Academic credentials include a Juris Doctor from the University of Melbourne, a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law Melbourne, and a Juris Doctor Exchange at Georgetown University Law Center. A strong foundation in Development Studies and International Studies was established with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne.
