Liam Faught

Liam Faught serves as the Assistant General Counsel at the International Development Law Organization (IDLO) since September 2023, focusing on the negotiation of international legal instruments and advising senior leadership on legal issues related to governance and founding treaties. Previous roles include Advocacy Analyst and Legal Consultant at IDLO, supporting efforts to promote the rule of law and Sustainable Development Goal 16, and Legal Fellow at Guernica 37 Chambers, where representation of victims of human rights abuses occurred. Additionally, contributions to Canadian politics were made as a Contributor for The Hub, and valuable experience was gained as an Associate at Paul Hastings, engaging in middle-market financings and extensive pro bono work. Early legal training included an articling position at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, where trial preparation and research on various legal matters took place. Liam holds a Master of Laws from New York University and a Doctor of Law from the University of Toronto, complemented by studies in law at the University of Amsterdam and a Bachelor's degree in Political Studies from Queen's University.
