Jessica Smith

Jessica Smith, MPH, currently serves as Principal Consultant at the Illinois State Board of Education, providing high-level technical assistance to school food authorities and community organizations regarding Child Nutrition Programs since March 2015. Prior experience includes roles as a School Nutrition Specialist at the Virginia Department of Education, where responsibilities included supporting child nutrition program compliance across Virginia, and a Public Health Intern at Wythe County Public Schools, focusing on USDA menu compliance. Educational achievements include a Master’s degree in Public Health Education and Promotion from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from Southern Illinois University. Additional experience encompasses leadership and mentorship roles, along with project facilitation within educational programs dedicated to supporting underrepresented students.
