Tony Sanders

Tony Sanders currently serves as the State Superintendent for the Illinois State Board of Education since February 2023. Previously, Tony was the Superintendent/Chief Executive Officer for School District U-46 from July 2007 to February 2023, where Tony also held the positions of Chief of Staff and Chief Communications Officer. Additional roles include Chair of the Board of Directors at the Elgin Area Chamber in January 2019 and Chief Communications Officer at St. Louis Public Schools from 2005 to 2007. Earlier, Tony worked as the Acting Director of Communications & Governmental Relations at the Illinois State Board of Education and as Public Information Officer for the Department of Professional Regulation. Tony's educational credentials include ongoing studies for a Doctor of Education at Aurora University, an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Judson University, and multiple degrees in educational leadership and business management from various institutions.
