Jonathan Bush is the Executive Chairman of Firefly Health, a start up that provides health navigation and concierge medicine services by providing primary care to patients through a mobile app and clinic visits. Mr. Bush is the co-founder and former CEO of athenahealth. He co-founded the company in 1997 and took it public in 2007 in the most successful initial public offering that year. athenahealth evolved into a leading provider of cloud-based business services to U.S. medical groups pursuing a vision of an information backbone that makes health care work as it should. Prior to founding athenahealth, Mr. Bush served as an EMT for the City of New Orleans, was trained as a medic in the U.S. Army, and worked as a management consultant with Booz Allen & Hamilton. Mr. Bush obtained a Bachelor of Arts in the College of Social Studies from Wesleyan University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. Mr. Bush is the author of "Where Does It Hurt? An Entrepreneur’s Guide to Fixing Health Care." The book is a provocative, irreverent, sometimes harrowing and, of course, always humorous journey through the dark underbelly of the American healthcare system – why it’s broken, what the fix will involve, and where innovation is already taking hold.
