Mathieu Duchâtel

Director Of International Studies And Resident Senior Fellow For Asia at Institut Montaigne

Mathieu Duchâtel serves as the Director of International Studies and Resident Senior Fellow for Asia at Institut Montaigne since January 2019, having previously held the position of Deputy Director for the Asia and China Program at the European Council on Foreign Relations from November 2015 to December 2018. Prior experience includes roles as a Senior Researcher at SIPRI from July 2011 to October 2015, and a Visiting Fellow at the Japan Institute of International Affairs in February 2015. Mathieu held the position of Visiting Scholar at Peking University from September 2011 to May 2012 and was a Research Fellow at Asia Centre from September 2006 to July 2011, where the role included serving as Chief Editor of China Analysis. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Political Science from Sciences Po, an M.A. in East Asian Studies from National Chengchi University, and an M.A. in Political Science from Sciences Po, complemented by studies at Fudan University.
