Marcelo Soares is an experienced data and audience strategy consultant and the founder of Lagom Data, providing analytical services to organizations of all sizes since July 2018. With a strong background in Brazilian media, independent consulting began in March 2016, focusing on audience development for smaller media outlets. Marcelo has contributed to the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists since 2008 and has taught data journalism at ESPM Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing. Previous roles include serving as Audience and Data Editor at Folha de S.Paulo and working as a stringer for the Los Angeles Times. Marcelo holds a Master’s degree in Science Journalism from Universidade Estadual de Campinas and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul.
