Abdi Hersi, PhD, currently serves as a Senior Regional Policy and Liaison Officer for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) - UN Migration, a role held since May 2021, focusing on policy and liaison support for the East and Horn of Africa Region. Prior to this, Abdi Hersi worked as a Knowledge Management and Learning Expert for the Intergovernmental Authority on Development from January 2020 to May 2021. Academic contributions include a tenure at Griffith University from June 2015 to January 2020, where Abdi Hersi lectured on Conflict and Forced Displacement, and held positions as an Adjunct Research Fellow and Sessional Lecturer. In earlier public service, Abdi Hersi was a Commonwealth Public Servant from August 2002 to August 2013, concluding this period as Duty Manager at Gold Coast International Airport. Abdi Hersi holds a Ph.D. in Sociology of Religion from Griffith University and a Master's degree in International Relations and Affairs from The University of Queensland.
