Karl Baker

Head Of Operations Middle East And North Africa at IOM - UN Migration

Karl Baker is an experienced professional in international operations, currently serving as the Head of Operations for the Middle East and North Africa at IOM - UN Migration since February 2008. Previously held roles include Deputy Head of Operations for East, Southern, and the Horn of Africa, and Transition and Recovery Program Manager in South Sudan, where direct supervision and management of staff were critical. Additional experience includes overseeing camp coordination and management in high-stakes environments, directing operations for refugee resettlements in Thailand, and coordinating logistics in Ethiopia. Karl Baker also worked with Catholic Relief Services as Program Manager II and served as an Identity Authentication Officer with IOM. An early career with Peace Corps involved management and reporting responsibilities for regional operations. Karl Baker holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration with a specialization in International Management from DePaul University, a Master's degree in Forestry from Auburn University, and a Bachelor of Arts in American History from The University of Alabama in Huntsville.
