Faith Cooper

Faith Cooper is the current Regional Director - South, Resettlement, Asylum & Integration at International Rescue Committee. Prior to that, they were the Country Director for Africare in Ghana and Liberia from January 2018 to September 2018. There, they oversaw strategic direction, operational management and technical control of Liberia and Ghana country programs. Faith also developed and facilitated business/resource mobilization strategy towards effective and efficient expansion of programs including partnerships with the United States Agency for International Development(USAID), Republic of Liberia Ministry of Health, various NGOS, United Nations partners, civil society organizations and corporate entities.

From November 2014 to July 2017, Ms. Cooper was the Regional Advisor for the West Africa Disaster Preparedness Initiative (WADPI) at Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC). In this role, they provided strategic oversight and operational planning and implementation support for WADPI, a post Ebola Capacity-building program funded by the United States Department of Defense and implemented by KAIPTC in Ghana, NADMO of Ghana and spearheaded by ECOWAS in Nigeria.

Ms. Cooper coordinated the successful training of more than 1,400 disaster managers/public health practitioners across 15 African countries (Ghana, Benin, Togo, Senegal. Burkina Faso, Cote D' Ivoire, Liberia. Nigeria, Guinea Bissau, Mali, the Gambia Cameroon, Sierra Leone, Guinea and Cape Verde) and select members from the ECOWAS Commission. Faith also supported replication of WADPI training in the Republic of Liberia resulting in more than 450 trained on the all hazards disaster preparedness model across 15 counties in Liberia.

Faith Cooper has a MPA from George Mason University in Health Policy and Administration, a Bachelor of Arts from Sampere International Language Institute in Spanish, and a BA from Radford University in Spanish and Criminal Justice. Faith also has a certification from Washington, DC in Joint Humanitarian Operations Course, Office of Foreign Disaster Affairs, USAID.
