Jed McCaleb

Jed McCaleb is the founder of Interstellar, a company that is working to build the infrastructure for a new financial system. Prior to Interstellar, McCaleb founded and ran Astera Institute, a think tank dedicated to research on artificial intelligence and machine learning. Jed also founded the Machine Intelligence Research Institute, which is focused on developing safe artificial intelligence. In addition, McCaleb was the founder of the Stellar Development Foundation, which is dedicated to building an open, inclusive financial system that serves all of humanity. Prior to their work in the financial sector, McCaleb was the founder of Code Collective, where they programmed and designed The Far Wilds, a turn-based strategy game that emphasizes clever plays. The Far Wilds received positive reviews from IGN for its “unique, interesting and addictive gameplay.” When they no longer had time to run the game, they handed it over to a group of dedicated fans who could continue to operate it for the community.
