Dr. Monica Oguttu is the founder and Executive Director of the Kisumu Medical and Education Trust (KMET) in Kenya. KMET works in underserved communities to promote maternally, child, and family health and operates in 35 of the 47 counties in Kenya as well as regionally in East and Central Africa. Under her stewardship, KMET has received international and national awards including the Margaret Sanger Award from the Planned Parenthood Federation of America for leadership and courage in advocating for reproductive health rights. Her work has been published in numerous journals, including The Lancet and the African Journal of Reproductive Health. She also has served on the board of directors of the Safe Abortion Action Fund, headquartered in London, and has consulted for a wide range of organizations including the United Nations Population Fund and the World Health Organization. She is a registered nurse and midwife and received her MPhil/Ph.D. from the University of Central England.
