Billy Tasker-Brown

Postdoctoral Researcher at John Innes Centre

Billy Tasker-Brown is a postdoctoral researcher at the John Innes Centre since September 2024, focusing on chloroplast gene expression. Prior to this role, Billy served as a research scientist at Tropic from May 2023 to September 2024, leading a project on rice yield improvement through genome editing and trait development. Between February 2021 and April 2023, Billy was involved in research at Cardiff University, utilizing confocal microscopy and time-lapse imaging to study plant cell size regulation under the supervision of Dr. Angharad Jones and Prof Jim Murray. Billy's earlier research experience includes positions at the John Innes Centre as a postdoctoral researcher and PhD student, as well as an internship at The Sainsbury Laboratory. Billy holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Botany/Plant Biology from the University of East Anglia and dual Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of St Andrews.
