Stan Watson has unparalleled knowledge of healthcare law as applied in clinical settings. He spent many years as an attorney and litigator with major San Francisco Bay Area law firms, eventually focusing on healthcare issues. He served as Senior Consultant with the Bioethics Consultation Group and as Senior Counsel with the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (1993–2006). He was also Vice President and Director of Kaiser Foundation Research Institute (2006–2013), advising the Kaiser Permanente board on all the legal dimensions of research. Watson earned his law degree at Harvard Law School and an MA in ethics from the Pacific School of Religion/Graduate Theological Union. Among his community service roles, he is board president at Openhouse, which serves LGBT seniors in San Francisco.
