Kim is a nationally recognized coding expert. Her energetic and engaging teaching style makes her a sought-after educator, trainer and speaker. Her nursing background provides her with the ability to understand both the clinical and coding attributes of a procedure. She is an expert in analyzing chart documentation and in reengineering practices to enhance the reimbursement process. Kim has worked with small and large as well as private and academic and employed practices to provide coding education as well as performed documentation reviews.

Kim understands the complexity of coding and reimbursement issues specific to surgeons – both from a clinical perspective and from a payor side. She not only recognizes the compliance and accuracy necessity of correct coding but also understands what it takes to get paid. She is adept at improving the revenue cycle for practices having worked with hundreds of practices in her almost 20 years of consulting. She can help determine what you can do better to improve revenue, reduce risk, and streamline processes to enhance your efficiency.

She has presented coding seminars and workshops for physicians and their staff on behalf of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Ms. Pollock has also conducted programs for the North American Skull Base Society, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Academy of Professional Coders, the North American Spine Society, the American Neurotology Society and numerous state medical societies.

Kim worked for the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas for a number of years. She held positions as both the Associate Vice President of Cancer Programs and as Administrator in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. She also has experience as a staff nurse, charge nurse, and head nurse at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas, working in otolaryngology, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, and general surgery.

Kim holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Dallas and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has a Certified Professional Coder (C.P.C.) credential awarded by the American Association of Professional Coders (A.A.P.C.) and a Certified Medical Documentation Professional (C.M.D.P.) credential awarded by the American Institute of Healthcare Compliance.

Kim is a former board member of both the Society of Otorhinolaryngology and Head-Neck Nurses and the Ear, Nose and Throat Nursing Foundation. She is a recipient of the Presidential Citation from the Society of Otorhinolaryngology and Head-Neck Nurses. The American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery also bestowed the Honor Award upon Kim.

In her spare time, Kim enjoys traveling (Europe is a favorite destination), reading, and going to movies. She and Arthur live in the Dallas area.
