Aya Olivia Nakitanda serves as a PhD candidate at Karolinska Institutet within the Department of Medicine - Solna, focusing on reproductive pharmacoepidemiology. Nakitanda's previous roles include Interim Scientific Expert at the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, Contributor for the World Health Organization's Reproductive Health Library, and Research Associate at Karolinska Institutet's Department of Public Health Sciences. Nakitanda has also worked as a consultant for the Swiss Academy for Development, interned at the World Health Organization, and held medical positions at AAR Health Services, Mulago National Referral Hospital, and Kapchorwa district hospital. An accomplished swimmer, Nakitanda is a ten-time national champion and represented Uganda in multiple international competitions, including the 2008 Olympic Games.
