Shannon Petersen

Shannon Petersen is an experienced education professional currently serving as the Lead School Counselor at Katy ISD since August 2016, focusing on college, career, and military readiness for high school students and their families. Previously, Shannon held the position of School Counselor and SAP Coordinator at Alief Hastings High School from August 2011 to June 2016, after transitioning from a teaching role in Co-teach, Pre-AP, and AP World History at the same institution. Earlier teaching experience includes a position at Ojeda Junior High School, where Shannon taught reading and 8th grade social studies while also acting as the team leader. Shannon began a career in education as an Executive Administrative Assistant at The Weddington Center, contributing to organizational tasks and event planning. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Government from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Houston.
